Greetings,

Happy New Year to all of my zone 4 residents and businesses. I hope everyone had a safe and happy holiday season. I would like to thank everyone for their continued support of the Oak Park Police Department. The citizens and the police department need to work together to keep our streets safe. If you see any suspicious activity please contact the police department immediately, by calling 9-1-1 in an emergency or 708-386-2131 in a non-emergency. Never worry about inconveniencing an officer; we would rather stop a crime than try to solve it after the fact.

Take steps to reduce the opportunity for criminals, such as leaving GPS devices visible in your vehicles, leaving the car running unattended with the keys in the ignition on a cold morning, or leaving doors and windows open while away from the home.

A resident of the zone reported a suspicious incident that occurred on January 8th at 12:50 A.M. in the area of Euclid / Pleasant when three males / African American, late 20’s / 30’s, dark quilted coats / dark pants (baggy) were ringing the door bell and looking into the front window. The resident answered the door when one of the subjects asked for some sugar and they left. If this or any other suspicious activity occurs contact the police department immediately.

If you have not visited the Village of Oak Park website lately take a look at the information available, http://www.oak-park.us/ The village also has a Facebook and Twitter page where you can get the latest information. There is also a VOP E-News service with a link available on the main page.

I have attached my current newsletter to this e-mail. Please feel free to forward or print out for anyone residing / working in zone 4. If anyone needs printed copies let me know.

Don’t forget, I have my monthly zone 4 meeting on the second Wednesday of each month at 7:00 P.M. at Percy Julian Middle School 416 S. Ridgeland.

If anyone would like to host a block / neighborhood watch meeting let me know.

Thanks again for all of your support. Let’s make 2010 a great year.
