Welcome to the New NeighborNet!

Over the past several years since Mark and I created the NeighborNet e-mail newsletter, a lot has changed. When we started, we were both stay-at-home dads with too much time on our hands for our own good. Rounding up neighborhood news and trying to connect new and old residents took time, but we had it. Things have changed. I'm working a full-time schedule while still hauling my kids around town after school to one practice or another. Mark is going to school, student teaching and keeping up with his own kids, while serving as president of the Park District.

It's easy, just send me a photo, a little description, and I'll post it for you. For the adventurous, create your own new blog post, click on where it says "insert image" on the bottom of the "Body" window, upload your photo and see what happens. It would be good if the photo wasn't too big - maybe 300 pixels wide or so. neighbornet@dtkindler.com

OP cops arrest three more Chicago teens for bike robberies

Web Extra!
Oak Park police, already on alert after several bike robberies last week involving Chicago teens, arrested three more Chicago teens in connection with two separate bike robberies yesterday afternoon.

The arrests bring to nine the number of Chicago teens arrested in Oak Park for bike robbery in the past 10 days, during which bikes have been taken from village kids by force or threat of violence.

At about 4 p.m. yesterday afternoon, two 12-year-old Oak Park boys riding on the first block of Pleasant Street were confronted by two 13-year-olds from Chicago. One Chicago boy grabbed the first Oak Park boy and pulled him off his bike. The other Chicago boy ordered the second Oak Park boy off his bike, and the two Chicago boys rode off eastbound on Lake Street.
